Social Responsibility worldwide

We welcome the code of conduct introduced by the “Business Social Compliance Initiative” (BSCI), as a binding standard of corporate social responsibility for the entire global supply chain.

We have been a member of the BSCI since 2012 and review our suppliers, particularly those in so-called “critical countries”, in accordance with BSCI guidelines. We conduct these reviews on site with our business partners as well as with independent auditors. We are aware that there are still many cases in which conditions do not fully comply with the BSCI code. It would be naïve to think that this type of system would change things overnight. In accordance with the approach of the BSCI, we practise a gradual, yet rigorous development process that aims to completely implement the code of conduct in the long term. We are thus ensuring the ethical and economic sustainability of our business.

Our “BSCI Team” convenes regularly and consists of executives and senior employees from the Henry Lamotte Group. Our purchasing managers ensure that the code of conduct is duly integrated in our procurement processes and is an integral part of our supplier selection and evaluation process.

Dolphin Safe

SAFE is an international monitoring programme for dolphin-safe tuna fisheries, which was first installed in 1990 by the American Earth Island Institute (EII). SAFE is ISO-9001 and ISO-14001 certified and has a team of 12 monitors, who ensure that the 400 tuna fish producers in 52 countries observe the strict SAFE guidelines. More than 90% of the world’s tuna fish companies adhere to these guidelines. Consumers can find approved products by looking for the SAFE logo on the products they purchase

The responsible management of our oceans is our main concern. With our MSC certification we contribute to maintaining the health of the marine biosphere for future generations. MSC (Marine Stewardship Council) – an independent non-profit – organisation – was founded in 1997 to take on the problem of global overfishing and has since achieved considerable successes. Our goal is sustainable fisheries for intact fish stocks, a reduction in by-catch and more protected zones.

By certifying the entire supply chain we ensure that any fish with the MSC label can be traced back to a sustainable source.
